The ASUS Prime Z790M-Plus D4 is a microATX motherboard built on the Intel Z790 chipset, designed for Intel LGA1700 socket processors including 12th and 13th Generation Intel Core, Pentium Gold, and Celeron processors. Measuring 24.4 cm x 24.4 cm, it fits compact mid-tower and microATX chassis while delivering the feature set typically associated with full-size boards. For memory, the board provides four DIMM slots supporting up to 128 GB of non-ECC, unbuffered DDR4 memory in dual-channel configuration. Speeds range from DDR4-2133 at native JEDEC all the way up to DDR4-5333 via overclocking, with support for Intel Extreme Memory Profile (XMP) and ASUS OptiMem II for enhanced signal integrity. Expansion is covered by one PCIe 5.0 x16 slot sourced from the processor, one PCIe 4.0 x16 slot operating at x4 mode from the chipset, and two PCIe 4.0 x1 slots. Cooling management is handled through Fan Xpert 4 software or UEFI BIOS, with one CPU fan header, one CPU OPT header, one AIO pump header, and three chassis fan headers — each supporting auto-detection of PWM or DC fans and dynamic temperature mapping from multiple thermal sensors. ASUS 5X Protection III circuitry includes DIGI+ VRM with DrMOS, LANGuard, overvoltage protection, SafeSlot Core+ reinforcement, and a stainless-steel back I/O panel. Aura Sync RGB lighting is supported via one standard RGB header and three Addressable Gen 2 headers. Software bundled includes Armoury Crate (with Fan Xpert 4 and AI Cooling II), AI Suite 3, ASUS CPU-Z, and UEFI tools including CrashFree BIOS 3 and EZ Flash 3.
