The ASUS Pro WS W680 Ace is a full-size ATX workstation motherboard built on the Intel W680 chipset with an LGA 1700 socket, supporting 12th, 13th, and 14th Gen Intel Core processors as well as Pentium Gold and Celeron CPUs. It is designed to serve professionals working in AI training, deep learning, 3D rendering, animation, and media production, delivering the stability and expandability those disciplines demand. At the heart of its power delivery sits a DrMOS-based VRM stage complemented by ProCool connectors, alloy chokes, and durable capacitors. An 8-pin plus 4-pin +12V power connector arrangement and a dedicated 6-pin PCIe power connector reinforce reliable power distribution under sustained workstation loads. A large VRM heatsink and individual M.2 heatsinks manage thermals, while five fan headers — including a CPU fan, CPU OPT, water-pump header, and three chassis fan headers — integrate with ASUS Fan Xpert 4 for precise cooling control. Expansion is a standout strength. Two PCIe 5.0 x16 SafeSlots (operating at x16 or x8/x8 mode) cater to high-bandwidth professional GPUs, including NVIDIA Quadro-class cards for modelling and simulation. An additional two PCIe 3.0 x16 slots (x4 mode) and one PCIe 3.0 x1 slot from the W680 chipset extend configurability further. Three Key-M M.2 slots operating at PCIe 4.0 speeds, plus four SATA 6Gb/s ports and a SlimSAS connector, provide extensive storage scalability. Memory runs on four DDR5 DIMM slots in dual-channel configuration, supporting up to 192 GB. The board accepts both ECC and Non-ECC unbuffered DDR5 modules and is compatible with Intel Extreme Memory Profile (XMP) and ASUS OptiMem II. Non-ECC DDR5 modules with Die ECC are also supported, and true ECC operation helps automatic detection and correction of single-bit memory errors to protect long-running workstation jobs. Connectivity is equally comprehensive. The rear I/O panel offers dual Intel 2.5Gb Ethernet ports, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports (one Type-A, one Type-C), four USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, two USB 2.0 ports, DisplayPort, HDMI, VGA outputs, five audio jacks, and a BIOS Flashback button. Internally, a USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 front-panel connector supports USB Type-C, a Thunderbolt header enables future TB4 expansion, an LPT header maintains legacy peripheral compatibility, and a BMC header and SPI TPM header support enterprise management scenarios. ASUS Control Center Express delivers centralised IT management including USB port control, software blacklisting, and registry access controls.
