Western Digital Purple 2TB 5400 RPM Surveillance Internal Hard Drive (WD20PURZ)

The Western Digital Purple 2TB Internal Hard Drive (model WD20PURZ) is a purpose-built surveillance storage solution designed for continuous, 24/7 operation in DVR and NVR systems. Operating at 5400 RPM with a 64 MB cache, this 3.5-inch SATA drive delivers a sustained host-to-drive transfer rate of 145 MB/s and a maximum buffer-to-host interface rate of 6 Gb/s, making it well-suited for the steady, high-stream workloads that modern security systems demand. WD Purple drives feature AllFrame 4K technology, which improves ATA streaming to help reduce frame loss and support smoother video playback, including from ultra-high-definition cameras. Each drive in this series is optimized to support up to 64 cameras and up to 8 drive bays within a compatible NVR enclosure, providing meaningful room to scale your surveillance infrastructure over time. With an annualized workload rating of 180 TB/yr — significantly higher than typical desktop-class drives — the WD20PURZ is engineered to handle the write-intensive, low bit-rate, high-stream-count workloads common in mainstream surveillance environments. IntelliSeek technology calculates optimum seek speeds to keep power consumption and vibration levels low, contributing to quieter, more efficient operation. The drive is RoHS-compliant and formatted with Advanced Format (AF) for compatibility with modern systems. It is rated for operating temperatures between 0°C and 65°C and carries a load/unload cycle rating of 300,000 cycles, supporting long-term reliability in always-on deployments.
