The Adata Legend 850 512GB (model ALEG-850-512GCS) is an M.2 2280 form-factor internal solid-state drive built on the PCIe Gen4 x4 interface and compliant with the NVMe 1.4 standard. It is designed for users who demand high-throughput storage in a compact footprint — whether upgrading a desktop, a thin-and-light notebook, or a PlayStation 5 console. At the heart of the Legend 850 is a 3D NAND flash array paired with SLC Caching and Host Memory Buffer (HMB) technology. SLC Caching accelerates burst writes by temporarily using a portion of the NAND as single-level-cell memory, while HMB allows the drive to leverage a small slice of system RAM as a translation-layer cache, reducing latency without requiring dedicated onboard DRAM. The drive ships with an integrated black heatsink featuring a bronzed trim and sandblasted surface finish. This heatsink dissipates operating heat passively, keeping the controller and NAND within their rated operating temperature range of 0 °C to 70 °C, which is important for sustaining peak throughput during extended workloads such as large file transfers or game installations. Data integrity is protected by LDPC (Low-Density Parity-Check) error-correction coding, which detects and corrects bit errors in the NAND cells. AES 256-bit hardware encryption is also supported, allowing users to secure data at rest without a software performance penalty.
