The ARCTIC Freezer 8A (SKU: ACFRE00161A) is a compact single-tower CPU air cooler built exclusively for AMD AM4 and AM5 platforms. Its modest footprint — 83 mm (L) × 108 mm (W) × 136 mm (H) — makes it a practical choice for small-form-factor and mid-tower cases where clearance around tall RAM modules or adjacent PCIe slots is a genuine concern. At the core of the cooler are two 6 mm copper heatpipes arranged in a direct-touch, offset layout. The offset orientation is deliberately designed to shift the contact area toward the CPU hotspot, which is particularly relevant for modern multi-die AMD CPUs (chiplet architectures on AM5) where the heat source is not centred on the IHS. Heat is drawn into a stack of 46 aluminium fins, each 0.4 mm thick, maximising surface area within the compact envelope. Airflow is handled by a single 100 mm × 25 mm P10 PWM fan. Running on a fluid dynamic bearing — a low-friction design that reduces mechanical noise — the fan operates between 200 and 2,300 rpm under PWM control. Below 5% PWM duty cycle, the fan stops entirely (0 rpm), allowing near-silent operation during light workloads. The fan draws 0.13 A at 12 V DC and connects via a standard 4-pin PWM header. The cooler ships with ARCTIC MX-6 thermal compound pre-applied to the base, so no separate paste application is required before the first installation.
