Overview
The ASRock B450 Steel Legend is a full-size ATX motherboard (30.5 cm x 24.4 cm) built on the AMD Promontory B450 chipset and designed for the AM4 socket. It supports AMD Ryzen 2000, 3000, 4000 G-Series, 5000, and 5000 G-Series desktop processors, making it a capable platform for builders who want long-term AMD Ryzen compatibility without moving to a newer chipset. For memory, the board provides four DDR4 DIMM slots in a dual-channel configuration with a maximum capacity of 128 GB. Depending on the CPU installed, native speeds reach DDR4 3200, while certain processor families support XMP overclocks up to DDR4 3533+ (OC). All DIMM slots feature 15μ gold contacts for reliable long-term connectivity. Storage options are generous: six SATA3 6 Gb/s ports (four via the chipset supporting RAID 0/1/10, two via ASMedia ASM1061), one Ultra M.2 socket (M2_1) supporting PCIe Gen3 x4 at up to 32 Gb/s for drives up to 2280 form factor, and a second M.2 socket (M2_2) supporting PCIe Gen3 x2 and SATA3, compatible with drives up to 22110 form factor. Both M.2 slots are covered by ASRock's full-coverage M.2 heatsink to aid thermal management. Expansion slots comprise two PCIe 3.0 x16 physical slots (primary running at x16 with Vermeer/Matisse/Pinnacle Ridge CPUs) and four PCIe 2.0 x1 slots, with AMD Quad CrossFireX multi-GPU support. RGB and addressable LED headers, along with ASRock Polychrome SYNC software, support lighting customisation.
