Overview
The ASRock Z590 OC Formula is an E-ATX form-factor motherboard built on the Intel Z590 chipset for LGA1200 socket processors. It is compatible with both 10th Gen and 11th Gen Intel Core processors, including unlocked K-Series CPUs, and supports Intel Turbo Boost Max 3.0 Technology and ASRock Hyper BCLK Engine III for advanced base-clock tuning. At the heart of its power delivery is a 16-phase CPU power design paired with a 2-phase memory power design, all driven by 90A Smart Power Stage (SPS) components with integrated MOSFETs, current sensors, and temperature sensors. Supporting components include premium 90A power chokes, Nichicon 12K Black Caps (Japanese-made conductive polymer capacitors), and a 2oz copper, 12-layer server-grade low-loss PCB with PCB Backdrill technology to reduce signal attenuation in high-frequency memory operation. Memory support spans two DDR4 SMD DIMM slots with XMP 2.0 compatibility, up to 64 GB maximum capacity, and overclocked speeds reaching DDR4-6000+ (OC) with 11th Gen processors. The SMD-type DIMM slot design reduces signal loss compared to conventional DIP slots. Storage connectivity includes 8 x SATA3 6.0 Gb/s ports (6 native + 2 via ASMedia ASM1061), 1 x Hyper M.2 (PCIe Gen4 x4, up to 64 Gb/s with 11th Gen), and 2 x Ultra M.2 sockets (PCIe Gen3 x4 / SATA3). Note that M2_2 shares lanes with SATA3_0 and SATA3_1, and M2_3 shares lanes with SATA3_4 and SATA3_5. Expansion slots provide 3 x PCIe x16 slots (Gen4 with 11th Gen; Gen3 with 10th Gen) plus 2 x PCIe 2.0 x1 slots. Connectivity is rounded out by dual Intel LAN (Intel I225V 2.5 Gbps + Intel I219V 1 Gbps), Intel Wi-Fi 6E (802.11ax, 2x2 160 MHz, 6 GHz band) with Bluetooth 5.2, and a front-panel USB 3.2 Gen2x2 Type-C header delivering 20 Gb/s. Audio is handled by a Realtek ALC1220 codec delivering 7.1-channel HD audio, supplemented by an ESS SABRE9218 DAC rated at 130 dB SNR for the front panel output, WIMA audio capacitors, PCB isolate shielding, and Nahimic Audio software. For overclocking control, the board includes dedicated onboard buttons: Power, Reset, Retry, Safe Boot, Slow Mode switch, LN2 Mode switch, Rapid OC +/- frequency buttons, a PCIe ON/OFF switch, V-Probe voltage measurement points, three NickShih OC Profile buttons, and an OLED status display.
