Overview
The ASUS ProArt B660 Creator DDR4 is an ATX motherboard built on Intel's B660 chipset, designed to handle intensive content-creation workloads such as 3D rendering and 4K/8K video editing. It uses the LGA1700 socket to support 12th Gen Intel Core, Pentium Gold, and Celeron processors, and its power delivery system features a 12+1 DrMOS VRM rated at 50 amps per stage — delivering clean, stable power for sustained multi-threaded tasks. Connectivity is a clear focus. The board carries a Realtek 2.5 Gb Ethernet port and an Intel I219-V 1 Gb Ethernet port simultaneously, enabling users to separate internet and local NAS traffic. For high-speed storage, three M.2 slots (Key M) are provided: M.2_1 runs PCIe 4.0 x4 via the CPU, M.2_3 runs PCIe 4.0 x4 via the chipset, and M.2_2 supports PCIe 3.0 x4. All three slots are backed by aluminum heatsinks and ASUS M.2 Q-Latch for tool-free drive installation. Four SATA 6 Gb/s ports round out storage, with Intel Rapid Storage Technology supporting RAID 0/1/5/10. Display output options include one HDMI 2.1 port (4K at 60 Hz) and one rear USB Type-C port with DisplayPort 1.4 alternate mode (up to 8K at 60 Hz). The front-panel USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Type-C connector delivers up to 20 Gbps data transfer and supports Quick Charge 4+ at up to 60 W via a dedicated 6-pin PCIe power cable. An onboard Thunderbolt header accommodates the optional ASUS ThunderboltEX 4 add-in card. Thermal management includes dedicated VRM and chipset heatsinks, flexible M.2 heatsinks, six 4-pin PWM fan headers, one CPU fan header, one CPU OPT fan header, and one AIO pump header. The main PCIe x16 slot is protected by ASUS SafeSlot reinforcement. Audio is handled by a Realtek HD codec supporting 7.1 surround sound at up to 24-bit/192 kHz, with premium capacitors and dedicated PCB layers to reduce interference. Software includes ProArt Creator Hub with CreationFirst mode for workload prioritisation, Two-Way AI Noise Cancelation for online communication, Fan Xpert 4, ASUS Control Center Express for IT asset management, AURA Sync for addressable RGB headers, and the full ASUS AI Suite 3 toolkit. Wi-Fi is not included but can be added via the onboard M.2 Key E slot.
