The ASUS ROG Strix Z490-I Gaming is a Mini ITX motherboard measuring 17 cm x 17 cm (6.7 x 6.7 inches), built around the Intel Z490 chipset and designed for Intel LGA1200 socket processors — covering 10th Generation Intel Core, Pentium Gold, and Celeron series. Despite its compact footprint, it delivers a feature set typically associated with larger form factors, making it a strong choice for high-performance small-form-factor builds. Memory support is a highlight: two DIMM slots accept up to 64 GB of DDR4 memory, with overclocked speeds reaching 4800 MHz via XMP profiles. ASUS OptiMem II trace-routing technology reduces signal interference to improve stability and compatibility at higher frequencies. Each slot supports up to 32 GB, matching the total capacity of many four-slot ATX designs. Storage options are generous for an ITX board. Two M.2 slots both support PCIe 3.0 x4 and SATA modes for Type 2242, 2260, and 2280 drives, complemented by four SATA 6 Gb/s ports with RAID 0, 1, 5, and 10 support. Audio is handled by the ROG SupremeFX S1220A codec — an 8-channel High Definition Audio solution with dual op-amplifiers, 120 dB SNR stereo playback, 113 dB SNR recording input, impedance sensing for headphone outputs, audio shielding, and premium Japanese audio capacitors. Software tools include ASUS AI Suite 3 with 5-Way Optimization and AI Overclocking, Armoury Crate with Aura Sync RGB control, GameFirst VI network prioritization, Sonic Studio III audio tuning, and full UEFI BIOS with BIOS FlashBack support for no-CPU BIOS updates.
