The Gigabyte A520M S2H is a Micro ATX form-factor motherboard built on the AMD A520 chipset and fitted with an AM4 socket, making it compatible with 3rd Generation AMD Ryzen processors including Ryzen models with integrated Radeon Graphics. Its compact 24.4 cm × 20.5 cm footprint fits most mid-tower and Micro ATX cases without sacrificing connectivity. Power delivery is handled by a 4+3 phase pure digital VRM solution using low RDS MOSFETs, designed to supply stable, precise voltage to the CPU under sustained workloads. Two DDR4 DIMM slots support dual-channel memory up to 64 GB (32 GB per slot), with native speeds of 2133–3200 MHz and overclocked profiles up to DDR4-5100 (O.C.) via XMP. Both ECC and non-ECC unbuffered DIMMs are supported. Storage options include one M.2 Socket 3 connector (type 2242/2260/2280, PCIe 3.0 x4/x2 or SATA) and four SATA 6 Gb/s ports with support for RAID 0, RAID 1, and RAID 10 arrays. A single PCIe 3.0 x16 slot accommodates a discrete graphics card, supplemented by two PCIe 3.0 x1 slots for expansion cards. Display output for APU-based builds is provided through three rear-panel connectors: D-Sub (up to 1920×1200 @ 60 Hz), DVI-D (up to 1920×1200 @ 60 Hz), and HDMI 2.1 (up to 4096×2160 @ 60 Hz with HDCP 2.3 and HDR support), enabling up to three simultaneous displays. Network connectivity is delivered by a Realtek GbE LAN chip (1000/100 Mbit) paired with the Realtek 8118 Gaming LAN controller that includes bandwidth management software for prioritising game traffic. Audio is handled by a Realtek ALC887 codec supporting High Definition Audio in 2/4/5.1/7.1-channel configurations. The rear panel provides four USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports and two USB 2.0 ports; internal headers add two more USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports and four USB 2.0 ports. Gigabyte RGB Fusion 2.0 is supported via one addressable LED header and one standard RGB LED header, enabling synchronised lighting across compatible strips and accessories. Smart Fan 5 provides multiple thermal sensor inputs and hybrid fan headers (PWM and voltage mode) with FAN STOP capability. Q-Flash Plus on the rear panel allows BIOS updates without installing the CPU, memory, or GPU—useful during initial system builds or recovery scenarios. Protection features include anti-sulfur resistors, ESD-resistant LAN ICs, and anti-surge circuitry on the LAN port. The BIOS is a licensed AMI UEFI implementation stored on a 128 Mbit flash chip.
