Overview
The GIGABYTE X670 Gaming X AX V2 is an ATX-form-factor motherboard (305 mm × 244 mm) built on the AMD X670 chipset and designed for the AM5 socket. It is compatible with AMD Ryzen 7000 and Ryzen 8000 Series processors, making it a capable platform for high-performance desktop builds. Power delivery is handled by a 14+2+2 phase digital VRM solution, backed by a mega-heat pipe and dedicated M.2 Thermal Guard to keep both the voltage regulators and the primary NVMe slot operating within safe thermal limits. The board features four DDR5 DIMM slots in a dual-channel configuration, supporting memory speeds from 4400 MT/s up to DDR5-8000 (OC) and a total capacity of up to 192 GB (48 GB per DIMM). Both AMD EXPO and Intel XMP profiles are supported for straightforward memory overclocking. Storage options are extensive: the primary M.2 slot (M2A_CPU) supports PCIe 5.0 x4 SSDs in 25110 and 2580 form factors with Ryzen 7000 CPUs, while three additional M.2 slots deliver PCIe 4.0 x4 connectivity. Four SATA 6 Gb/s ports round out the storage interface, and RAID 0, 1, and 10 are supported for both NVMe and SATA arrays. EZ-Latch provides screwless installation for the PCIe x16 slot and M.2 connectors. Networking is covered by a Realtek 2.5GbE wired LAN controller and a Realtek Wi-Fi 6E (RTL8852CE) module supporting the 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz bands at up to 160 MHz channel width, along with Bluetooth 5.3. The rear I/O panel includes one USB Type-C port with USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 (20 Gbps) support, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, six USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, four USB 2.0 ports, one HDMI 2.1 port (up to 4096×2160 @ 60 Hz), and an RJ-45 jack. Internally, headers are available for an additional USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 Type-C port plus USB 3.2 Gen 1 and USB 2.0 connections. Audio is powered by a Realtek HD Audio CODEC supporting 2/4/5.1/7.1-channel output through three rear audio jacks. Fan management is handled by Smart Fan 6, which offers multiple temperature sensor inputs, hybrid PWM/DC fan headers, and FAN STOP functionality. Three addressable RGB Gen2 headers and one standard RGB header enable lighting customisation. The AMI UEFI BIOS includes Q-Flash Plus, allowing firmware updates without a CPU, memory, or graphics card installed.
