Overview
The Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Master is a full-size ATX motherboard built on the Intel Z390 Express Chipset, designed to support 8th and 9th Generation Intel Core processors in the LGA1151 socket — including Core i9, i7, i5, and i3 families. Its 12-phase IR digital VRM solution, using 40A IR3553 PowIRstage MOSFETs per vCore phase for a rated total of 480A, is paired with dual 8-pin ATX 12V power connectors, giving high-core-count processors the stable, clean power they need under sustained loads. Thermal management goes well beyond basic heatsinks. The board combines a Fins-Array heatsink, a direct-touch heat pipe, and a thermal baseplate across the VRM zone. Each of the three M.2 slots is equipped with an individual Thermal Guard shield to help keep NVMe SSDs running at rated speeds. For memory, four DDR4 DIMM slots support dual-channel configurations up to 128GB (based on 32GB single-DIMM modules), with XMP profiles and overclocked speeds up to DDR4-4400 (O.C.). Storage flexibility comes from three M.2 Socket 3 (PCIe Gen3 x4) connectors alongside six SATA 6Gb/s ports and support for RAID 0, 1, 5, and 10, as well as Intel Optane Memory. Connectivity is comprehensive. The onboard Intel CNVi module delivers 802.11a/b/g/n/ac dual-band Wi-Fi with 160MHz channel support and speeds up to 1.73Gbps, plus Bluetooth 5. Wired networking is handled by an Intel Gigabit LAN chip with cFosSpeed traffic-shaping software. The rear I/O panel provides one USB Type-C (USB 3.1 Gen 2), three USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-A (red), two USB 3.1 Gen 1, and four USB 2.0 ports, complemented by an internal front-panel USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C header. Audio is served by a Realtek ALC1220-VB codec paired with an ESS SABRE 9118 DAC, supporting 2/4/5.1/7.1-channel output, S/PDIF optical out, and DSD playback on the front-panel line-out jack. RGB Fusion multi-zone lighting is supported via two addressable LED strip headers and two standard RGB LED strip headers. Smart Fan 5 provides hybrid fan control across six headers with FAN STOP capability.
