The Gigabyte Z490M Gaming X is a Micro ATX form-factor motherboard measuring 24.4 cm × 24.4 cm, built on the Intel Z490 Express Chipset and designed for 10th Generation Intel Core processors in the LGA1200 package — covering the Core i9, i7, i5, i3, Pentium, and Celeron lines. Its direct 11+1 phase digital VRM solution, paired with an enlarged VRM heatsink featuring a 5 W/mK thermal conductive pad and Low RDS MOSFETs, is engineered to deliver stable power delivery under demanding workloads. Memory capacity reaches up to 128 GB across four DDR4 DIMM slots (32 GB per DIMM), supporting dual-channel operation with native speeds of 2133 through 2933 MHz and XMP overclocking profiles up to DDR4 4400 (O.C.). Storage is handled by one M.2 Socket 3 connector (types 2242/2260/2280/22110, PCIe x4/x2 or SATA, protected by a Thermal Guard) alongside six SATA 6 Gb/s ports with RAID 0/1/5/10 support and Intel Optane Memory readiness. The Smart Fan 5 system provides multiple temperature sensors and hybrid fan headers with FAN STOP capability across one CPU and three system fan headers. Two Thunderbolt add-in card connectors and a TPM header (for GC-TPM2.0 SPI modules) are also present internally. BIOS is a 256 Mbit AMI UEFI implementation; Q-Flash Plus allows firmware updates using only a USB drive — no CPU, memory, or graphics card required.
