The Gigabyte Z690M Aorus Elite AX DDR4 is a Micro ATX motherboard built on the Intel Z690 Express Chipset, designed for 12th Generation Intel Core i5, i7, and i9 processors in the LGA1700 socket. Its compact 244 mm × 244 mm footprint makes it a strong choice for space-conscious builds that still demand flagship-class connectivity and power delivery. Power delivery centres on a direct 12+1+2 phase digital VRM design with 60 A power stages and tantalum polymer capacitors, backed by high-coverage MOSFET heatsinks to maintain stable voltages under sustained load. Memory support spans four DDR4 DIMM slots accommodating dual-channel non-ECC unbuffered modules at native speeds up to DDR4-3200 and overclocked profiles up to DDR4-5333 (O.C.), with a total capacity ceiling of 128 GB (32 GB per slot). XMP profiles are supported for straightforward memory tuning. Storage options are generous for the platform: three M.2 Socket 3 connectors all running PCIe 4.0 x4, each protected by a Thermal Guard heatsink, complemented by six SATA 6 Gb/s ports with support for RAID 0, 1, 5, and 10. The primary PCIe x16 slot operates at PCIe 5.0, while a second x16-keyed slot runs at PCIe 3.0 x4. Connectivity is handled by an Intel 2.5 GbE LAN chip and an Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX201 module supporting 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz dual-band with up to 2.4 Gbps data rate and Bluetooth 5.2. The rear I/O panel includes one USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 Type-C port (20 Gb/s), one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A port, four USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, four USB 2.0 ports, HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.2, an optical S/PDIF output, and dual SMA antenna connectors. RGB Fusion 2.0 provides multi-zone addressable lighting via two ARGB headers and two RGB headers onboard. Smart Fan 6 manages up to five fan and pump headers with hybrid control and FAN STOP capability. Q-Flash Plus allows BIOS updates without a CPU, memory, or GPU installed, simplifying initial platform setup.
