Overview

The GIGABYTE Z890 Aero D is an E-ATX motherboard (305 mm × 285 mm) designed for content creators and power users building around Intel Core Ultra processors (Series 2) on the LGA1851 socket, paired with the Intel Z890 Express Chipset. Its white aesthetic and clean aesthetic language are matched by a feature set that prioritises connectivity, storage throughput, and memory headroom. At the heart of its connectivity story are two rear-panel Intel Thunderbolt 5 Type-C ports delivering bidirectional bandwidth of up to 80 Gb/s and burst bandwidth of up to 120 Gb/s, with support for DisplayPort 2.1, HDCP 2.3, and 60 W USB Power Delivery. A front-panel Intel Thunderbolt 4 connector adds further flexibility for studio environments. Alongside these, six USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, HDMI 2.1 (up to 4096×2160 @ 60 Hz), and a DisplayPort In port complete a comprehensive rear I/O. Network throughput is served by two Marvell AQtion AQC113C controllers, each capable of 10 Gbps, 5 Gbps, 2.5 Gbps, 1 Gbps, and 100 Mbps operation. Wireless is handled by an Intel Wi-Fi 7 BE200 module supporting 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz bands (802.11be, 320 MHz channel), accompanied by Bluetooth 5.4. Storage is addressed by four M.2 connectors: one CPU-attached PCIe 5.0 x4 slot (supporting up to 25110-length drives), one CPU-attached PCIe 4.0 x4 slot, and two chipset-attached PCIe 4.0 x4 slots. Eight SATA 6 Gb/s ports are also available. RAID 0, 1, 5, and 10 configurations are supported for both NVMe and SATA devices. Memory support extends to four DDR5 DIMM slots (dual-channel) with a combined capacity of up to 256 GB (64 GB per DIMM) and XMP profile support. Validated speeds reach DDR5-9500 (O.C.). The VRM uses a 16+1+2 phase digital twin solution, protected by VRM Thermal Armor Advanced. M.2 slots are covered by M.2 Thermal Guard XL heatsinks. Expansion slots include two CPU-attached PCIe 5.0 x16 slots (running x16 and x8) and one chipset PCIe 4.0 x4 slot.
