The Intel Core i5-12400F is a 12th-generation ‘Alder Lake’ desktop processor built for mainstream gaming and everyday productivity builds. It pairs 6 performance cores with 12 threads, running a 2.5 GHz base frequency and climbing to a 4.40 GHz max turbo frequency when workloads demand it. Manufactured on the Intel 7 process, it carries 18 MB of Intel Smart Cache (L3) plus 7.5 MB of L2 cache to keep frequently used data close to the cores. The processor drops into LGA 1700 (FCLGA1700) motherboards and supports both DDR5-4800 and DDR4-3200 memory, up to 128 GB across two channels – so builders can reuse an existing DDR4 kit or move to DDR5.
