The Intel Core i5-12600K is a 12th Generation Alder Lake desktop processor built on Intel 7 process technology. It represents Intel’s first mainstream deployment of Performance Hybrid Architecture, combining six Performance-cores (P-cores) and four Efficient-cores (E-cores) for a total of 10 cores and 16 threads. The P-cores deliver a base clock of 3.70 GHz and boost up to 4.90 GHz via Intel Turbo Boost Max Technology 3.0, while the E-cores run at a base of 2.80 GHz and turbo to 3.60 GHz. Together they handle diverse workloads — from responsive single-threaded tasks to demanding multi-threaded rendering and content creation pipelines. Intel Thread Director works in tandem with the operating system scheduler to intelligently route application threads to the most appropriate core type in real time, optimising both performance and power efficiency. The processor ships with 20 MB of Intel Smart Cache (L3) and 9.5 MB of total L2 cache, reducing memory latency for gaming, compilation, and data-intensive workflows. Connectivity is a highlight of the Alder Lake platform.
