Overview
The MSI Pro B660M-A WiFi DDR5 is a Micro-ATX motherboard designed for 12th Generation Intel Core, Pentium Gold, and Celeron processors using the LGA 1700 socket. Built on the Intel B660 chipset, it brings a well-rounded feature set to productivity-focused and mainstream desktop builds without unnecessary complexity. Memory support is a strong suit: four DDR5 slots accommodate up to 128 GB of non-ECC, unbuffered RAM. JEDEC baseline speed is 4800 MHz (1R), while XMP overclocking profiles push single-rank modules to 6200+ MHz and dual-rank configurations to 5200+ MHz at 1 DPC. Dual-channel operation is fully supported, and Intel Extreme Memory Profile (XMP) can be enabled directly through the BIOS. Storage flexibility comes from two M.2 Key-M slots — both supporting PCIe 4.0 x4 — paired with M.2 Shield Frozr heatsinks that help maintain SSD performance under sustained loads. Four SATA 6 Gb/s ports are also available, and RAID 0, 1, 5, and 10 configurations are supported for SATA arrays. The primary PCIe x16 slot (from CPU) runs at PCIe 4.0 x16, with a second x16-physical slot from the chipset running at PCIe 3.0 x4. Networking is handled by a Realtek RTL8125BG 2.5 Gbps wired LAN controller and a pre-installed Intel Wi-Fi 6 module (802.11ax) supporting 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands at up to 160 MHz channel width, delivering up to 2.4 Gbps theoretical throughput. MU-MIMO TX/RX and OFDMA are included. Bluetooth 5.2 is bundled with the wireless module. Video output on the rear panel includes two HDMI 2.1 ports (4K 60 Hz with HDR) and two DisplayPort 1.4 outputs (4K 60 Hz, HBR3), useful for integrated-graphics workloads on compatible CPUs. Audio is handled by a Realtek ALC897 codec delivering 7.1-channel high-definition audio. Fan control is comprehensive: one 4-pin CPU fan header, one 4-pin water-pump header (up to 3 A), and two 4-pin system fan headers are provided.
