Random read performance reaches up to 98,000 IOPS and random write up to 88,000 IOPS at queue depth 32, making everyday tasks such as application loading, file transfers, and multitasking noticeably more responsive compared to a traditional hard drive. Powering the 870 EVO is Samsung’s MKX controller paired with 512 MB of Low Power DDR4 SDRAM cache and Samsung’s 6th-generation V-NAND 3-bit MLC (TLC) flash memory. The Intelligent TurboWrite technology dynamically allocates a variable write buffer to sustain high write throughput during extended workloads.
