The SilverStone RM44 (model SST-RM44) is a 4U rackmount server chassis engineered for both professional rack deployments and high-end home system builds. Its dual-purpose design allows placement in vertical tower orientation or horizontal rackmount configuration, making it genuinely versatile across data-centre cabinets and desk-side workstations alike. The chassis is constructed from steel and accommodates a wide range of motherboard form factors: SSI-EEB, SSI-CEB, Extended ATX, ATX, Micro-ATX, and Mini-ITX. Eight expansion slots provide ample room for multi-GPU, HBA, or networking card configurations typical of server and workstation workloads. Cooling is a clear priority in the RM44’s design. The front supports up to three 120 mm fans and is compatible with radiators up to 360 mm (also configurable as one 120 mm plus one 240 mm unit). Two 80 mm fans come pre-installed at the rear, establishing a dedicated front-to-back airflow path that helps keep thermals in check under sustained loads. The front panel features star-crossed ventilation holes for unobstructed air intake, an anti-theft lock, and aluminium handle bars. Front I/O includes one USB Type-C and two USB 3.0 ports. Four LED indicators cover power status, HDD activity, and dual LAN activity – useful for quick visual monitoring in rack environments. An included expansion card retainer with storage drive mounting holes prevents GPU sag, an important consideration in horizontal rack orientations. Without the retainer installed, cards up to 154 mm wide and 424 mm long (when no front fans or radiators are fitted) can be accommodated. Reserved mounting holes along the chassis sides are compatible with standard server rack sliding rails. Power supply compatibility spans PS2 (ATX), Mini Redundant, and 2U Redundant (V3.0 or later) units, with a maximum PSU depth of 255 mm.
