Overview
The Thermaltake Toughpower PF3 850W is a fully modular ATX power supply designed to meet the demands of modern high-performance PC builds. Compliant with the Intel ATX 12V v3.0 specification, it supports up to 200% transient power excursion, ensuring stable delivery even during sudden GPU power spikes — a critical requirement for NVIDIA and AMD next-generation graphics cards. A native 16-pin PCIe 5.0 (12VHPWR) connector is included, capable of delivering up to 450W directly to compatible graphics cards without the need for adapters. The single +12V rail carries the full 850W (70.8A), channelled through an LLC resonant and DC-to-DC circuit design for tight voltage regulation — no more than ±2% on major rails, tighter than the Intel-specified ±5%. Ripple noise is kept below 30mV on the +12V, +5V, and +3.3V rails across the entire 0–100% load range. Cooling is handled by a 120mm fluid dynamic bearing (FDB) fan paired with a Smart Zero fan mode that halts the fan completely under light loads, reducing acoustics during everyday tasks. The 80 Plus Platinum efficiency rating means the unit converts power with high efficiency at typical loads, reducing heat output inside the chassis. Intel C6/C7 low-power states are supported, and active power factor correction (PFC) is included. Six industry-grade protections are built in: Over Current (OCP), Over Voltage (OVP), Under Voltage (UVP), Over Power (OPP), Short Circuit (SCP), and Over Temperature (OTP).
