Overview
The MSI MPG X670E Carbon WiFi is a full-size ATX motherboard built around the AMD X670E chipset, designed to support AMD Ryzen 7000 Series desktop processors on the AM5 socket. It pairs next-generation platform features with a robust power delivery architecture and premium thermal management, making it a strong foundation for high-performance builds. At its core, the board uses an 18+2+1 Duet Rail Power System backed by dual 8-pin CPU power connectors. This VRM configuration is engineered to deliver stable power delivery under sustained workloads with demanding Ryzen 7000 processors. Thermal management is handled by an extended heatsink with direct-touch heat pipes, MOSFET thermal pads rated at 7W/mK, and Double-sided M.2 Shield Frozr covers on the NVMe slots. For storage, the board provides four M.2 slots: two connected directly to the CPU supporting PCIe 5.0 x4 (for 2280/2260 form factors), and two chipset-connected slots supporting PCIe 4.0 x4. Six SATA 6G ports round out the storage options, with RAID 0, 1, and 10 support across both SATA and NVMe devices. Memory support spans four DDR5 DIMM slots with a maximum capacity of 128GB. The board is compatible with AMD EXPO profiles and supports overclocked speeds up to DDR5-6600+ MHz in a 1DPC 1R configuration, with JEDEC default at 4800MHz. Connectivity includes a Realtek RTL8125BG 2.5Gbps wired LAN controller and AMD Wi-Fi 6E (supporting 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz bands with up to 160MHz channel bandwidth) paired with Bluetooth 5.2. The rear I/O features six USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, one USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Type-C (20Gbps), one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C with DisplayPort, and two USB 2.0 ports, alongside Clear CMOS and Flash BIOS buttons for easy maintenance. Audio is powered by a Realtek ALC4080 codec delivering 7.1-channel HD audio with up to 32-bit/384kHz playback on the front panel and S/PDIF output. The board also supports MYSTIC LIGHT RGB with two ARGB Gen2 headers and one standard RGB header, plus an EZ LED control switch. The PCB is an 8-layer design using 2oz thickened copper.
