Overview
The ASRock Z590 Steel Legend WiFi 6E is a full-size ATX motherboard (30.5 cm x 24.4 cm) built on Intel's Z590 chipset and designed for LGA1200 processors. It is compatible with both 10th Generation and 11th Generation Intel Core processors, and supports Intel Turbo Boost Max 3.0 Technology along with K-Series unlocked CPUs for overclocking. The board uses a 14-phase digital power design incorporating 50A Dr.MOS components, an XXL aluminum alloy heatsink, premium power chokes, and Nichicon 12K Black Caps (Japan-made conductive polymer capacitors), collectively marketed under ASRock's Super Alloy platform. This power architecture is intended to deliver stable and efficient current to the CPU across both stock and overclocked workloads. For storage, the Z590 Steel Legend WiFi 6E offers three M.2 sockets: one Hyper M.2 (M2_1) supporting PCIe Gen4 x4 at up to 64 Gb/s (available only with 11th Gen processors), and two Ultra M.2 sockets (M2_2, M2_3) supporting PCIe Gen3 x4 at up to 32 Gb/s or SATA3. All three carry full-coverage M.2 heatsinks. Six SATA3 6.0 Gb/s ports are also present, with RAID 0/1/5/10 support for SATA and RAID 0/1 for NVMe devices. Memory support spans four DDR4 DIMM slots in dual-channel configuration, with a maximum capacity of 128 GB. With 11th Gen CPUs, DDR4 overclocking up to 4800 MHz (OC) is supported; 10th Gen CPUs reach up to 4666 MHz (OC). XMP 2.0 profiles are recognised natively. Networking combines an Intel 802.11ax (WiFi 6E) module supporting 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz bands via dual-antenna 2x2 MU-MIMO, paired with Bluetooth 5.2, and a Realtek Dragon RTL8125BG 2.5 Gigabit wired LAN controller (10/100/1000/2500 Mb/s). Connectivity includes a front-panel USB 3.2 Gen2x2 Type-C header at 20 Gb/s, rear USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A and Type-C ports at 10 Gb/s each, four USB 3.2 Gen1 ports (2 rear, 4 front via headers), and six USB 2.0 ports (2 rear, 4 front). Display outputs are HDMI 2.0 (4K@60Hz with 11th Gen) and DisplayPort 1.4, both requiring a CPU with integrated graphics. Audio is handled by a Realtek ALC897 codec delivering 7.1-channel HD audio with Nahimic Audio software, gold-plated audio jacks, and surge protection. An optical S/PDIF output is available on the rear I/O. RGB lighting is controllable through ASRock Polychrome SYNC, with two 12V RGB headers (up to 3A/36W each) and two 5V addressable RGB headers (up to 3A/15W each). A POST Status Checker provides LED diagnostics for CPU, DRAM, VGA, and Boot states at startup.
