Overview
The ASRock Z690M-ITX/ax WiFi DDR4 is a Mini-ITX motherboard built on the Intel Z690 chipset, designed to accommodate 12th Generation Intel Core processors in the LGA1700 socket. Measuring just 17.0 cm × 17.0 cm (6.7 in × 6.7 in), it delivers a high-density feature set in a compact footprint suited to small-form-factor builds, home theatre PCs, and space-constrained workstations. The power delivery system uses an 8-phase Dr.MOS design with 50 A power stages, a premium power choke, and Nichicon 12K Black capacitors for stable voltage delivery under sustained load. The 8-layer PCB with High Density Glass Fabric construction supports memory overclocking stability. Two DDR4 DIMM slots support dual-channel memory up to 64 GB, with speeds reaching DDR4-5000+ in overclocked mode and Intel XMP 2.0 profile support. The single PCIe 5.0 x16 slot, implemented using surface-mount technology, connects directly to the CPU for full-bandwidth discrete GPU operation. Storage is handled by two Hyper M.2 sockets (both supporting PCIe Gen4 x4 at up to 64 Gb/s; the second also accepts SATA3), complemented by four SATA3 6.0 Gb/s ports. RAID 0, 1, 5, and 10 are supported for SATA devices; RAID 0, 1, and 5 for NVMe M.2 devices. Networking combines a Dragon RTL8125BG 2.5 Gigabit LAN port, an Intel I219V Gigabit LAN port, and an 802.11ax Wi-Fi 6E module with dual-band 2×2 160 MHz support across 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz bands, plus MU-MIMO and Bluetooth. Rear I/O includes four USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A ports (10 Gb/s), one USB 3.2 Gen2x2 Type-C port (20 Gb/s), two USB 2.0 ports, HDMI 2.1 (up to 4K@60 Hz), DisplayPort 1.4 (up to 8K@60 Hz with DSC), dual RJ-45 ports, HD audio jacks, and a BIOS Flashback button. A front-panel USB 3.2 Gen2x2 Type-C header (20 Gb/s) and USB 3.2 Gen1 header add further internal connectivity. Onboard RGB and addressable RGB headers support ASRock Polychrome RGB Sync lighting control. Audio is delivered by a Realtek ALC897 7.1-channel HD codec with Nahimic Audio software and surge protection.
