The ASUS WS X299 Pro DDR4 is a full ATX workstation motherboard built around Intel's LGA2066 socket and the Intel X299 chipset, designed to harness the full capability of Intel Core X-Series processors. Whether you are running compute-intensive rendering workloads, multi-threaded content creation, or professional scientific applications, this board provides a stable and scalable foundation. Memory capacity scales with your processor: six-core and above Core X-Series CPUs unlock all eight DIMM slots for up to 128GB of DDR4 non-ECC unbuffered memory, while quad-core configurations support four slots and up to 64GB. In both cases, DDR4 speeds reach 4133MHz in overclocked mode, with native support at 2666, 2400, and 2133MHz. Intel Extreme Memory Profile (XMP) is supported for straightforward one-click speed enabling. Storage is generous and modern. Two M.2 Socket 3 slots operate at PCIe 3.0 x4 speeds (up to 32Gbps each), both protected beneath a dedicated M.2 heatsink that is stated to reduce drive temperatures by up to 20°C under load. Six SATA 6Gb/s ports and a single U.2 connector round out the storage options, with RAID 0, 1, 5, and 10 support via Intel Rapid Storage Technology. Intel Optane Memory compatibility is also present. Expansion slot configuration depends on the CPU's PCIe lane count: a 44-lane processor enables two full x16 slots alongside additional x8 and x4 slots, supporting NVIDIA 3-Way SLI and AMD 3-Way CrossFireX multi-GPU configurations. The ASUS 5-Way Optimization utility consolidates overclocking, EPU energy management, DIGI+ VRM control, Fan Xpert 4 cooling profiles, and Turbo App tuning into a single automated workflow.
