The ASUS ROG STRIX B850-E Gaming WiFi is a full-sized ATX motherboard (12 × 9.6 in / 30.5 × 24.4 cm) built on the AMD B850 chipset for the AM5 socket platform. It is designed to support AMD Ryzen 9000, 8000, and 7000 series desktop processors, giving builders a forward-compatible foundation without compromising on current-generation performance. Memory support is a highlight, with four DDR5 DIMM slots accommodating up to 256 GB of un-buffered DDR5 RAM in a dual-channel configuration. Overclocking headroom extends to 8000+ MT/s (OC) with AMD EXPO and ASUS AEMP profiles unlocking enthusiast-grade kits. The ASUS Dynamic OC Switcher and Core Flex features allow granular control over clock speeds, power limits, and thermal thresholds — automatically balancing between heavy multi-threaded workloads and precision single-threaded tasks. Connectivity is comprehensive. On the wireless side, a 2×2 Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) module supports 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz bands at up to 6.5 Gbps transfer rate and is paired with Bluetooth 5.4. Wired networking is handled by a Realtek 5 Gb Ethernet port backed by ASUS LANGuard surge protection. Storage options are extensive: five M.2 Key-M slots (up to three running PCIe 5.0 x4 with Ryzen 9000/7000 CPUs) plus four SATA 6 Gb/s ports. PCIe expansion includes a primary PCIe 5.0 x16 slot with Q-Release Slim and a chipset-connected PCIe 4.0 x16 slot (x4 mode). The rear I/O delivers 12 USB ports including a USB4 (40 Gbps) Type-C, a USB 20 Gbps Type-C with up to 30 W PD/PPS fast-charging, six USB 10 Gbps Type-A, and four USB 2.0 ports, alongside DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.1 video outputs. Audio is handled by the ROG SupremeFX ALC4080 codec with 120 dB SNR stereo playback, Savitech SV3H712 amplifier, optical S/PDIF output, and gold-plated rear jacks. AI-driven tools include ASUS AI Advisor for natural-language BIOS guidance, AI Overclocking for automated CPU/cooling profile optimisation, and AI Networking II for continuous wireless performance tuning. Aura Sync ARGB lighting is supported via three Addressable Gen 2 headers. The BIOS FlashBack button and Clear CMOS button on the rear I/O simplify system recovery without a CPU or memory installed.
