The Noctua NH-D15 G2 Chromax Black is the second-generation evolution of Noctua's acclaimed dual-tower air cooler, engineered from the ground up to push air-cooling performance further while maintaining an all-black aesthetic. Every component — heatsink, fan frames, anti-vibration pads, fan clips, and mounting hardware — is finished in black, making it a natural fit for all-black PC builds or any system where colour coordination matters. At the heart of the cooler are eight copper heatpipes, up from six in the original NH-D15. The additional thermal capacity becomes particularly valuable under sustained extreme loads of 250 W and above, where the G2 pulls ahead of its predecessor by the widest margin. The asymmetrical fin-stacks have been refined to work in concert with the new NF-A14x25r G2 fans: fin spacing has been tightened from 1.9 mm to 1.6 mm, allowing 26 additional fins to be incorporated and increasing total fin surface area by 20%. The front fin-stack is also 5 mm narrower than the rear, balancing airflow load more evenly across both fans. Despite these upgrades, the overall envelope is actually slightly more compact than the original — 9 mm shallower in depth while maintaining the same width and total installed height. Two NF-A14x25r G2 round-frame 140 mm PWM fans are included. Their speed range spans 300 rpm to 1500 rpm, enabling everything from near-silent background operation to full-performance cooling, with control handled automatically by motherboard PWM headers or manually via an optional fan controller. Each fan carries an MTTF rating exceeding 150,000 hours. Socket compatibility spans Intel LGA1851, LGA1700, LGA1200, LGA1156, LGA1155, LGA1152, LGA1151, and LGA1150, as well as AMD AM4 and AM5 out of the box. Optional free-of-charge mounting kits from Noctua's SecuFirm ecosystem extend support to legacy platforms including LGA2066, LGA2011-3, LGA2011-0 Square ILM, LGA1366, and LGA775, and Noctua commits to providing upgrade kits for future sockets where technically feasible.
