At its core, the 9800X3D features eight processing cores with Simultaneous Multi-Threading (SMT) delivering 16 threads of parallel computation. The processor operates at a 4.7 GHz base clock and can reach a maximum boost frequency of up to 5.2 GHz via AMD's Precision Boost 2 technology, which dynamically adjusts clock speeds based on workload, power, and thermal headroom. The defining feature of this processor is AMD 3D V-Cache technology, which stacks an additional layer of L3 cache directly on top of the CPU die.
