Overview
The ASRock B560 Steel Legend is a full-size ATX motherboard built on the Intel B560 chipset, designed to support both 10th Generation and 11th Generation Intel Core processors using the LGA1200 socket. Measuring 30.5 cm x 24.4 cm (12.0 in x 9.6 in), it fits standard ATX enclosures and is aimed at builders who want a feature-rich platform without moving to a Z-series chipset. Power delivery is handled by a 10-phase Dr.MOS design rated at 50A per phase, backed by a 60A premium power choke and Nichicon 12K Black capacitors sourced from Japan. An XXL aluminium alloy heatsink covers the VRM area to help manage thermals during sustained workloads. Memory support spans four DDR4 DIMM slots capable of holding up to 128 GB total. With an 11th Gen processor installed, XMP-tuned kits can be pushed to DDR4 4800 MHz (OC); with 10th Gen processors the ceiling is DDR4 4666 MHz (OC). The board supports Intel XMP 2.0 profiles and uses 15-micron gold contacts on both DIMM and primary PCIe slots for long-term reliability. Storage connectivity is expansive: six SATA3 6.0 Gb/s ports with AHCI, NCQ, and Hot Plug support sit alongside three M.2 sockets. The primary Hyper M.2 slot (M2_1) runs at PCIe Gen4 x4 (up to 64 Gb/s) but is exclusive to 11th Gen CPUs. The Ultra M.2 slot (M2_3) supports PCIe Gen3 x4 (up to 32 Gb/s) and is compatible with Intel Optane modules. A third M.2 slot (M2_2) accepts PCIe Gen3 x2 or SATA3 drives; note that occupying M2_2 with a SATA device disables the SATA3_1 port. Expansion slots include two PCIe x16 physical slots — the primary slot (PCIE1) runs at Gen4 x16 with 11th Gen CPUs or Gen3 x16 with 10th Gen CPUs — plus two PCIe 3.0 x1 slots. A Key-E M.2 socket accommodates optional 2230-form WiFi/BT modules or Intel CNVi cards; no wireless adapter is included. Networking is provided by a Dragon 2.5 Gigabit LAN controller (Realtek RTL8125BG) supporting 10/100/1000/2500 Mb/s with Wake- LAN, Energy Efficient Ethernet 802.3az, Lightning/ESD protection, and PXE boot. Audio runs through a Realtek ALC897 codec delivering 7.1-channel HD audio with Nahimic Audio software enhancement, gold-plated audio jacks, and surge protection on all audio outputs. An optical S/PDIF output is also available on the rear panel. Display output is handled by one HDMI port and one DisplayPort 1.4 connector driven by the CPU's integrated graphics. With 11th Gen CPUs, HDMI 2.0 enables up to 4K (4096x2160) at 60 Hz; 10th Gen CPUs are limited to HDMI 1.4. DisplayPort 1.4 supports up to 4096x2304 at 60 Hz regardless of CPU generation. RGB personalisation is supported via two standard RGB LED headers (12V/3A) and two addressable ARGB headers (5V/3A), controllable through ASRock Polychrome SYNC software. The rear I/O panel provides one USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C (10 Gb/s), four USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A, two USB 2.0, one PS/2 combo port, HDMI, DisplayPort 1.4, optical S/PDIF, RJ-45 LAN, and full 7.1-channel audio jacks. Internally, a front-panel USB 3.2 Gen2x2 Type-C header (20 Gb/s) is included. Full spike protection covers all USB, audio, and LAN ports. The BIOS is a 128 Mb AMI UEFI implementation with a full-HD graphical interface, multilingual support, ASRock EZ Mode, Instant Flash, Internet Flash, and granular voltage adjustment across CPU, memory, and platform rails.
