Overview
The GIGABYTE B450 Aorus Elite V2 is a full-size ATX motherboard built around AMD's B450 chipset, designed for the AM4 socket platform. It is compatible with AMD Ryzen 5000 series processors as well as 4th, 3rd, 2nd, and 1st Gen Ryzen CPUs, including Athlon processors with Radeon Vega graphics, making it a versatile foundation for a wide range of AMD-powered builds. Power delivery is handled by an 8+2 phase Digital Twin Power Design using low RDS MOSFETs, connected through a standard 24-pin ATX and 8-pin ATX 12V connector arrangement. This design supports stable power delivery for demanding CPU workloads. Memory support spans four DDR4 DIMM slots in a dual-channel configuration, accommodating up to 128 GB of system memory (32 GB per DIMM). The board accepts DDR4 speeds from 2133 MHz up to 3600 MHz (the latter via XMP/O.C. profile), with support for ECC unbuffered and non-ECC unbuffered modules. Storage options include two M.2 Socket 3 (M key) connectors—one supporting both SATA and PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe drives up to 22110 length, and a second supporting PCIe 3.0 x2 NVMe up to 2280 length—alongside six SATA 6 Gb/s ports. RAID 0, RAID 1, and RAID 10 configurations are supported across SATA devices. The primary M.2 slot includes an AORUS M.2 Thermal Guard heatsink to manage drive temperatures. Expansion is provided by one PCIe 3.0 x16 slot for the primary GPU, one PCIe 2.0 x16 slot running at x4 (bandwidth-shared), and two PCIe 2.0 x1 slots. AMD Quad-GPU and 2-Way CrossFire multi-GPU configurations are supported. Back-panel connectivity includes four USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports, four USB 2.0 ports, DVI-D (up to 1920×1200@60 Hz), HDMI 2.0 (up to 4096×2160@60 Hz, CPU-dependent), Realtek Gigabit Ethernet (10/100/1000 Mbit), six audio jacks via Realtek ALC892 HD Audio codec (2/4/5.1/7.1-channel with S/PDIF out), and a PS/2 keyboard/mouse port. RGB Fusion 2.0 is integrated, with one RGBW LED strip header and two addressable digital LED strip headers, enabling per-zone lighting customisation. The onboard fan control subsystem provides one CPU fan header and three system fan headers with speed monitoring and overheating warnings via an iTE I/O controller. The UEFI BIOS is AMI-licensed with 128 Mbit flash and supports Q-Flash for easy firmware updates. Bundled software includes Gigabyte APP Center utilities (EasyTune, Game Boost, RGB Fusion, Smart Backup, @BIOS, Fast Boot) and a Realtek 8118 Gaming LAN Bandwidth Control Utility.
