The Gigabyte B550M Aorus Elite AX is a Micro ATX motherboard built on the AMD B550 chipset for the AM4 socket, designed to support AMD Ryzen 5000 Series, Ryzen 5000 G-Series, Ryzen 4000 G-Series, and Ryzen 3000 Series processors. At just 24.4 cm x 24.4 cm, it fits compact mid-tower and small-form-factor cases while delivering a feature set that rivals larger boards. Connectivity is a standout area. The onboard Realtek Wi-Fi 6E (802.11ax, model RTL8852CE) covers the 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and the newly available 6 GHz bands, with support for the 11ax 160 MHz standard delivering up to 2.4 Gbps theoretical wireless throughput. Bluetooth 5.3 is included for peripheral pairing. Two SMA antenna connectors on the rear panel (2T2R configuration) complete the wireless setup. Wired networking is handled by a Realtek Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) controller with bandwidth management support. For storage, the board provides two M.2 connectors: M2A_CPU (CPU-connected) supports PCIe 4.0 x4 NVMe drives with Ryzen 5000/3000 processors and accommodates 2242, 2260, 2280, and 22110 form factors. ECC unbuffered DIMMs are supported (CPU-dependent). The VRM implements a 5+3 phase pure digital solution with low RDS MOSFETs for stable CPU power delivery. Expansion slots include one PCIe x16 slot (PCIe 4.0 x16 with Ryzen 5000/3000 CPUs), one PCIe x16 slot wired as PCIe 3.0 x4, and one PCIe 3.0 x1 slot. Display outputs — HDMI 2.1 (up to 4096x2160@60 Hz with HDR and HDCP 2.3) and DVI-D (up to 1920x1200@60 Hz) — are active when using Ryzen 5000 G-Series or 4000 G-Series APUs. Audio is powered by a Realtek High Definition Audio CODEC supporting 2/4/5.1/7.1-channel output with audio noise guard circuitry and high-quality audio capacitors. Gigabyte's RGB Fusion 2.0 system manages onboard lighting and external strips via two addressable LED headers (5V) and two standard RGB LED headers (12V), supporting up to 300 individually addressable LEDs. Smart Fan 5 provides hybrid PWM/voltage fan control across three fan headers with multiple thermal sensor inputs and a FAN STOP feature for silent operation at low loads. Q-Flash Plus enables BIOS updates without installing a CPU, memory, or graphics card — a useful feature when building fresh or recovering from a failed BIOS update.
