Overview
The Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Pro WiFi is a full-size ATX motherboard built on Intel's Z390 Express Chipset, designed to support 8th and 9th Generation Intel Core processors in the LGA1151 socket — from Celeron and Pentium up to Core i9. Its 12+1 phase digital power design combines a digital PWM controller with DrMOS components, fed by an 8-pin plus 4-pin ATX 12V power configuration, to deliver precise and stable voltage to the CPU under sustained loads including overclocking workloads. Memory support spans four DDR4 DIMM slots with a dual-channel architecture, accommodating up to 128 GB of RAM (32 GB per slot maximum, subject to installed CPU). Standard speeds of 2133, 2400, and 2666 MHz are supported natively, while XMP-enabled kits can be pushed to 4266 MHz (O.C.). ECC unbuffered DIMMs operate in non-ECC mode. Storage options are extensive. Two M.2 Socket 3 connectors (M key) support both SATA and PCIe x4 SSD formats, with the primary slot accepting up to 22110-length drives. An M.2 Thermal Guard helps manage heat from high-speed NVMe devices. Six SATA 6 Gb/s ports round out storage, with support for RAID 0, 1, 5, and 10 configurations. Intel Optane Memory acceleration is also supported. Wireless connectivity is provided by an Intel CNVi module supporting 802.11ac on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz dual-band with 160 MHz channel width and up to 1.73 Gbps theoretical data rate, alongside Bluetooth 5. Wired networking uses an Intel GbE LAN chip. The rear I/O panel includes one USB Type-C (USB 3.1 Gen 2), two USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-A (red), three USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A, four USB 2.0 ports, one HDMI 1.4 output (up to 4096x2160 at 30 Hz via integrated graphics), an optical S/PDIF output, five audio jacks, and an RJ-45 port. Audio is handled by a Realtek ALC1220-VB codec supporting up to 7.1-channel High Definition Audio with DSD playback on the back-panel line-out and S/PDIF Out. The BIOS uses dual 128 Mbit flash with AMI UEFI and Gigabyte's DualBIOS protection. RGB Fusion software controls the onboard digital and standard RGB LED headers.
