The GIGABYTE Z790 Aorus Elite AX is an ATX form-factor motherboard built on the Intel Z790 Express Chipset and designed for LGA1700 processors, including Intel 13th and 12th Generation Core, Pentium Gold, and Celeron series CPUs. It measures 30.5 cm × 24.4 cm and is engineered for enthusiast-level desktop builds that demand robust power delivery, fast storage, and versatile connectivity. Power delivery is handled by a Twin 16+1+2 phase digital VRM solution, backed by a 6-layer, 2× copper PCB design and a 6 mm heatpipe heatsink assembly that covers the MOSFET area. Two 8-pin ATX 12V connectors feed the CPU power rails, supporting stable Turbo Boost and overclocking headroom for high-TDP processors. Memory support spans four DDR5 DIMM slots in a dual-channel configuration, accommodating up to 128 GB (32 GB per module) at speeds from DDR5-4800 up to DDR5-7600 (overclocked) with XMP 3.0 profile support. ECC unbuffered modules are accepted but operate in non-ECC mode. Storage options include four M.2 PCIe 4.0 x4 connectors—one routed from the CPU (M2A_CPU) and three via the chipset (M2P_SB, M2Q_SB, M2M_SB, with M2M_SB also supporting SATA)—plus six SATA 6 Gb/s ports.
