The Noctua NH-D15S is an asymmetric, single-fan variant of Noctua's dual-tower flagship heatsink line, engineered specifically to balance top-tier thermal performance with real-world system compatibility. Unlike symmetrical dual-tower designs, the NH-D15S offsets its fin stack toward the upper edge of the motherboard when installed in standard orientation. This asymmetric layout allows it to clear the top PCIe x16 slot on most µATX and ATX motherboards — a meaningful advantage for builders who run a discrete GPU alongside a high-performance CPU. The recessed lower fins provide 66 mm of clearance for tall memory modules, ensuring the cooler works with most high-end RAM heatsinks on both Intel and AMD platforms without requiring fan repositioning. A single Noctua NF-A15 PWM fan is included in the box, and the cooler ships with extra fan clips so users can add a second 140 mm round-frame fan (120 mm mounting hole pattern) or a standard 120 mm fan at a later date — giving flexibility between compatibility and maximum cooling output.
