The Noctua NH-U12A chromax.black is the all-black variant of Noctua's NH-U12A, an asymmetrical single-tower heatsink engineered to deliver strong thermal performance within a compact 120mm footprint. Unlike standard 120mm coolers, it ships with two NF-A12x25 PWM chromax.black fans mounted in a push-pull configuration, allowing it to compete thermally with many 140mm single-tower designs while maintaining a narrower profile that benefits RAM clearance and PCIe compatibility. The heatsink body is constructed from a copper base and copper heat-pipes, aluminium cooling fins, soldered joints, and a full nickel-plating treatment — all finished in black to match the chromax.black aesthetic. The asymmetrical tower shape is deliberately offset to maximise clearance over the first DIMM slot without sacrificing fin-stack contact area. Each included NF-A12x25 PWM chromax.black fan features Noctua's SSO2 self-stabilising oil-pressure bearing, offering a rated MTTF of over 150,000 hours. Fan speed ranges from 450 RPM at minimum PWM duty cycle up to 2,000 RPM at full load, with noise output peaking at 22.6 dB(A). Two NA-RC14 Low-Noise Adaptors reduce maximum speed to 1,700 RPM and acoustic output to 18.8 dB(A) for near-silent operation. A NA-YC1 4-pin PWM Y-cable allows both fans to be controlled from a single motherboard header.
