Overview
The Thermaltake ToughAir 310 is a compact single-tower CPU air cooler designed for builders who want dependable thermal performance without the bulk or expense of an all-in-one liquid cooler. Its heatsink is constructed from aluminum fins threaded by four direct-contact copper heat pipes, each measuring Φ6 mm in diameter. The U-shaped routing of these heat pipes promotes continuous heat circulation across the fin stack, allowing the cooler to handle a rated thermal design power of 170 W — making it suitable for mainstream to mid-high performance desktop processors. Cooling air is provided by a single 120 × 120 × 25 mm PWM fan inspired by the TOUGHFAN 12 design. The fan operates across a wide speed range of 500 to 2000 RPM, letting the motherboard's PWM controller dial in noise versus airflow as needed. At maximum speed it delivers 58.35 CFM of airflow at a static pressure of 2.41 mm-H₂O, while its noise output stays at or below 23.6 dBA — a low enough figure to keep the cooler unobtrusive during typical workloads. The fan's rated electrical draw is 5.76 W at 12 V, and its bearing is rated for 40,000 hours of service life. It connects via a standard 4-pin PWM header. The fin array uses an asymmetric structure that widens the air intake channel on one side, reducing turbulence and encouraging laminar airflow through the fins. This geometry helps extract heat from the fin surface more efficiently than a uniform stack design. The overall cooler footprint of 123.6 × 71.7 × 159.5 mm (L × W × H) keeps the profile low enough to fit the majority of ATX and micro-ATX cases. The asymmetric fin layout also avoids fouling the first DIMM slot on most consumer motherboards. Socket compatibility is broad. The ToughAir 310 ships with mounting hardware for Intel LGA 1700, 1200, 1156, 1155, 1151, and 1150, as well as AMD AM5, AM4, AM3+, AM3, AM2+, AM2, FM2, and FM1 platforms, covering a very wide range of current and previous-generation CPUs.
