Overview
The ASUS ROG Strix B450-E Gaming WiFi is an ATX-form-factor motherboard built around the AMD B450 chipset and the AM4 socket, making it compatible with AMD Ryzen 2nd Generation, Ryzen 1st Generation, Ryzen with Radeon Vega Graphics, and Athlon with Radeon Vega Graphics processors. At 12 x 9.6 inches (30.5 x 24.4 cm), it fits standard ATX mid-tower and full-tower cases. Memory support is delivered through four DIMM slots accommodating up to 64 GB of dual-channel, non-ECC, unbuffered DDR4 RAM. Native speeds of 2133/2400/2666 MHz are supported, with overclocked profiles reaching up to 3533 MHz (OC). Storage options are equally flexible: two M.2 Socket 3 (M-key) slots support PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe drives (one also accepting SATA), and six SATA 6 Gb/s connectors with RAID 0, 1, and 10 support via the B450 chipset round out the configuration. Networking is handled by an Intel I211-AT Gigabit Ethernet controller alongside ASUS LANGuard and GameFirst technology, and an Intel Wireless-AC 9260 module providing dual-band 2.4/5 GHz Wi-Fi with MU-MIMO. Bluetooth 5.0 is also integrated. Audio is managed by the ROG SupremeFX S1220A 8-channel HD codec featuring dual op-amplifiers, impedance sensing for front and rear headphone outputs, 120 dB SNR stereo playback, 113 dB SNR recording, SupremeFX shielding, and up to 32-bit/192 kHz playback. An optical S/PDIF output on the rear panel, Sonic Radar III, and Sonic Studio III complete the audio stack. Expansion is covered by two PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16 slots (x16 or x8/x4 mode with Ryzen 2nd/1st Gen), one B450 chipset PCIe 2.0 x16 slot (x4 mode), and three PCIe 2.0 x1 slots, with support for AMD 3-Way CrossFireX on compatible processors. The rear I/O includes two USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-A (red), four USB 3.1 Gen 1, two USB 2.0, HDMI 2.0b (up to 4096×2160 @ 60 Hz), DisplayPort 1.2 (up to 4096×2160 @ 60 Hz), and a PS/2 combo port.
