Overview
The ASUS ROG Strix Z890-A Gaming WiFi is a full ATX (30.5 cm x 24.4 cm) motherboard built on the Intel Z890 chipset, designed to support Intel Core Ultra Processors (Series 2). Its clean white aesthetic is complemented by Aura Sync RGB via three onboard Addressable Gen 2 headers, making it a strong choice for visually themed builds. Memory support is handled through four DDR5 DIMM slots capable of accommodating up to 192 GB at speeds reaching 8600+ MT/s (OC) with CUDIMM modules. Dual-channel architecture is paired with Intel XMP compatibility, DIMM Fit for module-level optimisation, and ASUS Enhanced Memory Profile III (AEMP III) for fine-grained DDR5-8000+ tuning. Storage options are generous: five M.2 Key-M slots are available, with M.2_1 operating at PCIe 5.0 x4 and the remaining four at PCIe 4.0 x4, plus four SATA 6 Gb/s ports. Intel Rapid Storage Technology supports RAID 0/1/5/10 across PCIe and SATA arrays. A single PCIe 5.0 x16 slot from the CPU caters to the primary graphics card, with a secondary PCIe 4.0 x16 (x4 mode) slot from the chipset. Connectivity is extensive. The rear I/O delivers 10 USB ports including two Thunderbolt 4 (USB Type-C) ports and six USB 10 Gbps ports (five Type-A plus one Type-C with up to 30 W Power Delivery). Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be, 2x2, 2.4/5/6 GHz, up to 5.8 Gbps) and Bluetooth 5.4 are built in. Wired networking is handled by an Intel 2.5 Gb Ethernet port with ASUS LANGuard protection. Display outputs on the rear I/O include one DisplayPort 1.4 (up to 8K@60Hz) and one HDMI 2.1 port (up to 4K@60Hz), supplemented by two Thunderbolt 4 ports that additionally support DisplayPort video output. Audio is powered by the ROG SupremeFX system using the Realtek ALC4080 codec, delivering 7.1 surround sound with 120 dB SNR stereo playback output, 110 dB SNR recording input, and support for 32-bit/384 kHz playback on the front panel. A Savitech SV3H712 amplifier and rear optical S/PDIF output round out the audio feature set. Thermal management includes a dual VRM heatsink array, M.2 heatsinks covering all five slots, and an M.2 backplate. Fan control is addressed through one CPU Fan header, one CPU OPT Fan header, one AIO Pump header, and five Chassis Fan headers. The onboard BIOS FlashBack button and Clear CMOS button simplify maintenance and BIOS updates without a CPU installed.
