The GIGABYTE Z790 Gaming X AX DDR5 is an ATX form-factor motherboard built around the Intel Z790 Express Chipset and the LGA1700 socket, making it compatible with Intel 12th and 13th Generation Core, Pentium Gold, and Celeron processors. It is designed for builders who want a high-performance platform for gaming and content creation without stepping up to a flagship tier price. Power delivery is handled by a Twin 16+2+1 Phase Digital VRM solution, giving the board the headroom to support demanding CPUs under sustained loads. Four DDR5 DIMM slots accept up to 128 GB of system memory (32 GB per DIMM) in dual-channel configuration, with XMP profile support and overclocked speeds up to DDR5-7600 MHz achievable through BIOS adjustment. Storage flexibility is a standout feature: the board provides four M.2 connectors (all PCIe 4.0 x4), three via the chipset and one via the CPU, in addition to six SATA 6 Gb/s ports. RAID 0, 1, 5, and 10 configurations are supported for both NVMe and SATA storage. GIGABYTE's EZ-Latch Plus mechanism allows tool-free M.2 installation, and the M.2 Thermal Guard shields drives from heat-related throttling. Networking covers both wired and wireless with a Realtek 2.5GbE LAN port and an Intel Wi-Fi 6E AX211 module supporting the 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz bands with Bluetooth 5.3.
