The MSI B860M Gaming Plus WiFi 6E is a Micro-ATX motherboard built for Intel's LGA1851 socket, designed to support Intel Core Ultra Processors (Series 2). It combines a compact form factor with a feature set that covers fast connectivity, robust power delivery, and practical ease-of-use enhancements — making it a strong choice for mid-range gaming and productivity builds alike. On the connectivity front, the board integrates Intel Killer 5G LAN alongside Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3, ensuring low-latency wired and wireless networking. A front-panel USB Type-C header adds modern convenience for chassis with high-speed front I/O. The rear panel further includes USB 10Gbps (Type-A and Type-C), USB 5Gbps ports, HDMI, DisplayPort, and dedicated audio connectors — covering all typical desktop connectivity needs without the need for add-in cards. For memory, four DDR5 UDIMM slots support up to 256 GB of system RAM. In a single-DIMM-per-channel, single-rank configuration, speeds can reach up to 8800+ MT/s via overclocking (XMP 3.0 supported). The board also supports CUDIMM modules and Intel XMP 3.0 for straightforward memory tuning. Dual-channel mode is available across all supported configurations. Storage and expansion are well catered for: the primary PCIe x16 slot runs at PCIe 5.0 (from the CPU), and MSI's EZ PCIe Clip II allows single-finger GPU removal. M.2 slots with EZ M.2 Shield Frozr II thermal covers keep SSDs cool under load, and Lightning Gen 5 x4 M.2 support enables the fastest NVMe drives available. Thermal management comes via an extended VRM heatsink with 7W/mK MOSFET thermal pads and additional choke thermal pads, backed by a 6-layer PCB using MSI's PCB Fabric Technology for signal integrity and thermal stability.
