Overview
The MSI MPG B460I Gaming Edge WiFi is a Mini-ITX form factor motherboard built on the Intel B460 chipset, designed for Intel 10th Generation processors using the LGA 1200 socket. Measuring just 17.0 cm x 17.0 cm (6.7 in. x 6.7 in.), it packs a feature-rich specification set into a compact footprint suited to small-form-factor gaming and workstation builds. Memory support spans two DDR4 slots with a maximum capacity of 64 GB. Intel Core i7 and i9 processors can run memory up to DDR4 2933 MHz, while Core i5 and below are supported up to DDR4 2666 MHz. Both slots operate in dual-channel mode and are compatible with Intel Extreme Memory Profile (XMP) modules. Only non-ECC, unbuffered memory is supported. For storage, the board provides four SATA 6 Gb/s ports alongside two M.2 Key-M slots. The M2_1 slot supports PCIe 3.0 x4 and SATA 6 Gb/s for 2280 devices, while M2_2 supports PCIe 3.0 x4 for 2280 devices and is Intel Optane Memory ready. RAID configurations 0, 1, 5, and 10 are available for SATA storage. Networking is handled by a Realtek RTL8125B controller providing 2.5 Gbps wired LAN, paired with an Intel AX200 wireless module pre-installed in the Key-E M.2 slot. The AX200 supports 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax (Wi-Fi 6) across 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands with 160 MHz channel support and speeds up to 2.4 Gbps, plus Bluetooth 5.1. A 6+1+1 digital power design with extended PWM heatsink and M.2 Shield Frozr thermal covers supports sustained CPU and NVMe performance. A single PCIe 3.0 x16 slot sourced from the CPU handles discrete graphics. Display output from integrated graphics is available via one HDMI port (up to 4096x2160 at 30 Hz) and one DisplayPort (up to 4096x2304 at 60 Hz). Audio is managed by a Realtek ALC1200 codec delivering 7.1-channel HD audio with optical S/PDIF output. USB connectivity includes two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C ports, five USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, and four USB 2.0 ports spread across the rear panel and internal headers. RGB personalisation is supported via a 4-pin RGB connector and a 3-pin addressable LED connector, with MSI Mystic Light synchronisation.
