The Noctua NH-D15 G2 in chromax.black is the second-generation evolution of Noctua's acclaimed NH-D15 dual-tower air cooler, redesigned from the ground up to push air-cooling performance further while maintaining a fully blacked-out aesthetic that suits modern all-black and custom-colour builds. At the heart of the G2 revision are eight heatpipes — up from six in the original NH-D15. The two additional heatpipes provide meaningfully greater thermal headroom at extreme heat-loads, making this cooler particularly capable when paired with high-TDP processors running sustained workloads at 250 W and above. The heatsink's fin-stacks have been painstakingly re-engineered to take full advantage of the new NF-A14x25r G2 fans. Fin spacing has been reduced from 1.9 mm to 1.6 mm, allowing 26 additional fins to be integrated and increasing total fin surface area by approximately 20% compared to the original NH-D15. An asymmetrical layout — with the front stack trimmed by 5 mm in width — distributes airflow load more evenly across both fans. Despite packing more fins and additional heatpipes, the G2 is actually 9 mm shallower in heatsink depth than its predecessor, while retaining the same width and the same total installed height (fans included). Two NF-A14x25r G2 round-frame 140 mm fans are included. These PWM fans operate across a wide speed range — from a near-silent 300 rpm up to 1,500 rpm — enabling automatic motherboard-controlled thermal management or manual adjustment via an optional fan controller such as Noctua's NA-FC1.
